Expansion Joint / Expansion Joint

Primary Application

  • Primarily designed to absorb axial thermal expansion or contraction in piping systems.

  • Suitable for pipelines conveying steam, hot water, exhaust gases, and various industrial fluids where structural movements occur.

  • Designed for straight pipe runs with proper anchoring and guiding configurations.

Structure & Specifications

  • Bellows Material: Stainless Steel SUS316 (Offers high flexibility and superior corrosion resistance).

  • Components Material (Flanges/Shells): Available in Mild SteelSUS304, or SUS316 (Customizable based on the operational environment).

  • Ending Type: Tube End (Plain ends suitable for direct welding into the piping system).

  • Inner Sleeve (Liner): SUS304 or SUS316 (Protects the bellows from high-velocity media, reduces erosion, and minimizes pressure drop).

  • Tie Rods: No (Unrestrained type; requires main anchors and guides in the piping layout to control pressure thrust).

Movement

  • Axial Movement: Yes (Primary function; absorbs compression and elongation along the longitudinal axis).

  • Lateral Movement: Yes (Limited use) (Accommodates slight parallel offset or shearing movements).

  • Angular Movement: Yes (Limited use) (Allows minor angular rotation or angular deflection around the center).

Key Features & Benefits

  • Efficient Displacement Absorption: The flexible SUS316 corrugated bellows safely absorb thermal stress, preventing damage to connected machinery and piping joints.

  • Streamlined Flow: The integration of an inner sleeve (liner) ensures smooth fluid dynamics, preventing turbulence and media entrapment within the bellows corrugations.

  • Direct Weld Installation: The tube-end design provides a secure, leak-proof welded connection directly to the pipeline, eliminating the weight and space requirements of bolted flanges.
